Chris spoke really clearly and not too fast. I actually understood a few sentences which is encouraging. Andre you speak too fast for me but I still have a lot of vocabulary to learn so I when I can understand you I will know that I will be able to understand most Brazilians. 🙂

It is just about the right speed for me and I enjoyed it even if I struggled in places. but perhaps it would be easier if it is bit shorter and you do not mix it with French ‘beaucoup’ and English.

I think the fact that you still have people speaking English with you all the time gets in your way. Try to make Portuguese present in everything you do: songs, movies, conversations (speaking or writing) and have someone to practice daily. For a better understanding of the language, listening is the key. Do not use English when you have trouble speaking Portuguese, this makes your brain lazy!

Very difficult to understand. I have been studying for 2 years 8 months and have been to Brasil 11 times. I have had a difficult time learning Portuguese so far. My Brasilian girlfrind only speaks English with me which has made it tough and I just found out I needed hearing aids so i hope they help. Its been very frustrating. Any ideas as to things to try? I have been studying Portuguese for 2 years and 8 months and have been to Brasill 11 times but I am struggling. When I hear people speaking Portuguese I have a hard time understanding which makes it difficult to converse. My Brasilian girlfriend only speaks English with me when I go to Brasil which doesn’t help. I just got hearing aids hoping they will help. What can I do to improve my understanding? Not being able to converse keeps me from learning. When in Brasil i can say hello goodbye please thank you good morning and goodnight and order a drink but if anyone says anything its a struggle. Muito legal! Já doei sangue é concordo, sim, é uma coisa meio assustador ao inicio, mas depois da preimera vez o medo passa.

Trabalho em médicina no Reino Unido e concordo é uma coisa mutio altruísta, caridoso é importante pra quem precisa o sangue.
No meu país também parece que há escassez de sangue nos banques a maior parte do tempo.

Eu entendo bem-bom que você disse pois até hoje procuro por pessoas pra praticar meu inglês também, por não ter muita gente que fala inglês bem aqui na minha cidade.

Vamos pensar numa forma de solucionar isso no futuro, que sabe aulas individuais por Skype.

Bom dia
Eu acho que voces deveriam de encontrar uma forma de conversar com a gente em portuguese pra as pessoas que não tem alguém pra practicar-lo assim como está me acontecendo.
Ate agora, eu acho, que eu tenho dois ou tres anos que eu empecei estudar o portuguese mas não tenho ninguém pra practica-lo e unicamente ouço as estações da radio.
Eu acho que eu entendo bastante, mas como eu ja disse não tenho ninguém pra falar y acho que pode ser muito bom assistir numas aulas no skipe ou algo parecido o também praticando a conversação no escrito sim corregir muito a gramática pois vocês sabem que os teclados dos outros idiomas são muito difícil pra escrever todas as tildes como (ã, â, el crase à, a cedilla ç, etc.)
O que está me acontecendo é que eu como já disse encontro muito difícil falar pra ter uma conversa em portuguese embora eu entendo tudo o que voce fala pra mim.
Por exemplo: você disse pra mim cadeira e eu sé que é silla (em español) mas se eu quero disser silla em portuguese eu esqueço a tradução de silla pra portuguese e tenho que pensar um tempo pra falar.
Meu idioma natal é español mas também falou english pois eu moro nos Estados Unidos, mas aqui no sur do miami ninguém fala portuguese e não tenho forma de practica-lo.

Hey there!

Yes! Actually I made a cultural note on the PDF Guide talking about that. It’s easy to get confused with these things. You have “Paulista”, “Paulistano”, and “São Paulino”. She must have had a lapse of thought and mixed ’em up.

She’s wrong, people that are from the city are Paulistanos and from the state Paulistas.
