In search of some good Portuguese language learning apps? If so, this list is for you! Check out our selection and let us know on the comment what apps you use!
Memrise
and web
Memrise is among the most popular apps for learning many languages. I have used it myself for English and Spanish studies and I must say it’s one of the best apps I downloaded in recent times. Their technology is specially designed to help you save vocab in your long-term memory, and for me it worked like a charm.
We have our own list to help you master genders of the most used nouns in Portuguese, click here and give it a try!
Quizlet
and web
Quizlet is quite similar to Memrise. The good thing about it is that you can create your own Flashcards and you have multiple (7) ways to work with the Flashcards and test yourself.
We also have many sets of Flashcards on Quizlet, click here and get to know them.
Wakie
Although this isn’t necessarily a language app you can use it to find language partners. You’re always only minutes away from talking to someone and you can choose the language you want to speak in.
Lumosity
and web
Ok, this one has nothing to do with languages, I admit it, but… It will help you gain (or improve) cognitive skills so you can learn things faster and better, including languages. Win-win.
Hello talk
This one is like Wakie but made specially for language learning. You can talk live, send text and voice messages and use their set of tools that are quite comprehensive.
Português: Verbos e Conjugações
and web
Amazing app. It’s like a dictionary of verbs that also helps you know how Portuguese verbs work, their conjugation, and provides exercises for your practice. One of the most impressive in this list.
Badoo
and web
Swamped with Brazilians, this app was created as a dating application. But it evolved, and you now you can also use it just to meet new people and have conversations. A good place to make contact with Brazilians.
Português | Inglês AccelaStudy
Made for Brazilians to learn English you can easily put things in reverse. This app offers many ways to learn and practice the language.
iForca
Play hang-man in Brazilian Portuguese. If you are ahead in your Portuguese Studies this could be a very good pass time and teach you fresh vocab while you have to kill some minutes. Perfect for commuting or waiting in line for something.
Português Dictionary +
Apart from being a handy offline dictionary you’ll get other resources as Translations with audio pronunciation, tools to help you save words and practice vocab learned so far.
TuneIn
and web
Finally, an app that can make you listen to Brazilian Radios. You won’t have transcripts like in RBC but it you’ll definitely help you get insights on listening comprehension, pronunciation, and Brazilian news, culture and music. Also you can find stations from specific regions if you want to know an accent or region culture better. Some stations worth looking for:
– JovemPan – New, entertainment and music.
– TransAmérica – Music, news and other shows.
– BandNews – News
– CBN – News
– Alvorada FM – Mostly music and some variety shows.
